WEEK 4 - METAL TRAY MAKING

INTRODUCTION

This week, I learned how to make more complex shapes through further study. We will use the aluminum sheet to strike a tray that resembles the shape of a mobile phone cover. Then combine the two people's works together in a small group to make the two trays fit together perfectly.

In the following content, I will show all the steps that how to make the aluminum sheet become a tray.

STEP 1

First, I will use the pre-prepared arc template to draw the arc on the plank. The size of the arc will determine how difficult it is to hit the aluminum sheet. So I used the smallest arc to make the tray, which will show how good I can made the tray.

STEP 2

Use the sand machine to polish the extra parts along the drawn lines. The polished plank will be used as a grinding tool for striking the tray.

STEP 3

Place the polished abrasive tool on top of the aluminum sheet to draw the shape of the tool, and then draw another shape that is larger and equal in size with the smaller one. The outwardly increasing length is equal to the thickness of the plank. Because when striking the tray, the outer edge will bend inward, and the length of the bend should preferably not exceed the thickness of the abrasive tool. Then use metal scissors to cut off the excess aluminum flakes.

STEP 4

Place the abrasive on both sides of the aluminum sheet, align with the same shape as the middle of the aluminum sheet, and ensure that the two abrasives are at the same height. Then place them on the fixture and clamp them. When tapping, first bend the aluminum piece slightly inward and then tap the edge. Repeat the same steps as above and the trap shape will appear. The other corners will go through the same steps.

INTRODUCTION This week we were going to use a 200mm x 200mm aluminum sheet that strike it to became a metal bowl. follow this project, we were going to learn how to use the basis way to change the metal shape. INTRODUCTION This assignment will carry out a targeted analysis of some of the tasks that have been completed before, summarizing the existing problems, and then giving the best solutions to the emergent stages according to the problems. Through analysis and summarization, I can learn more about what I have learned at this stage. BRIEF REVIEW Project 1 - The foundation study of making different metal shapes. Through the first half of the semester, we learned to use different methods and equipment to make different shapes of metal. At the same time, we can explore the different shapes in the production process, so that the shape of the metal can be as we expected.  In project 1, we were allowed to exercise shape-making techniques by making different shapes. At this time, we learned more about using different tools and metal production equipment in the workshop. On the other hand, the complex shapes in project 2 can be better prepared by the learning in project 1. Project

WEEK 3 - METAL TORUS MAKING

INTRODUCTION This week we were going to increase the metal making skills, which was creating an aluminum sheet to adhere to the contours of a torus/reversed curve. In this way, to make the aluminum sheet is bent in different directions.
